Waldron’s Place

Why Here

Welcome — Why Here
Why Here

A fantastic place to live and work

We believe Crewe is a fantastic place to live and work with a lot to offer. We want to retain all those positive qualities and complement them as we seek to create a new neighbourhood at Waldron’s Place.

Unrivalled Connectivity

The Site is only a short journey from Crewe Train Station, offering 360 degree connectivity to the UK, with more than three million people within a 45-minute commute of Crewe by rail.

The Station has direct connections to nearby Nantwich and Stoke-on-Trent, as well as high-speed connections to major cities including Liverpool (35 mins), Manchester (40 mins), Birmingham (50 mins) and London (90 mins).

Economic Opportunities

The Site is well connected to key destinations such as Crewe Town Centre, as well as major employers such as Leighton Hospital, Bentley Motors, Mornflake and, Radius, as well as Gates Industrial Estate, and Green Business Park. Future residents will provide increased footfall to support the local town centre businesses as well as bolstering an already successful regional economy.

Local Housing Need

The Cheshire East Local Plan Strategy was adopted on 21 July 2017 and is the strategic plan for the borough. The plan identifies a housing requirement of at least 36,000 new homes over the plan period 2010 – 2030, equating to an average of 1,800 homes per year.

The Council publishes annual Housing Monitoring Update which identifies the supply of deliverable housing sites to meet local needs. They are required by Government to have at least 5-years worth of housing land supply. In the latest report (2024/25), Cheshire East confirmed they only had 3.3 years of supply.

Waldron’s Place could help meet this local need by creating a sustainable new neighbourhood that provides much needed extra homes in Crewe.
